'Permission Read for object depends on permission(s): Read Badges' error in WDC

Root Cause

This error occurs because the custom object has a master-detail relationship with the Work Badge object. Salesforce enforces a dependency: any profile that grants Read access to a child object in a master-detail relationship must also have Read access to the parent (Badges).

When you attempt to grant CRUD on the custom object without enabling Read on Badges, the system throws this error.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Create a custom object. 
2. Make it a master detail relationship with Work Badge 
3. Clone a profile 
4. Give the profile CRUD on the custom object 
5. You will get the error:  Permission Read foo object depends on permission(s): Read Badges 

Resolution / Workaround

To resolve this error:

(1) Enable the Enhanced Profile User Interface in Setup (Setup > User Interface > Enable Enhanced Profile User Interface). The Enhanced Profile UI provides more granular control over object-level permissions.

(2) Open the Profile in the Enhanced UI and set the permissions you want for the custom object.

(3) Ensure that 'Read' access to Badges is also enabled for the profile — this resolves the dependency.
