'Send Notification' checkbox not available on the Task page layout

Descripción
Users may note that the 'Send Notification Email' checkbox is still unavailable upon creating or editing tasks despite an administrator disabling the feature 'Enable User Control over Task Assignment Notifications' in the organization's ActivitiesSettings.

 
Solución
An administrator may need to select the 'Email Notification Checkbox' for the User's assigned Task page layout's properties by navigating to:

In Salesforce Classic 
Setup | Customize | Activities | Task Page Layouts

1. Click the Edit link next to the name of the page layout assigned to the affected User.
2. Click the Layout Properties button in the page layout's palette on the upper portion of the screen.
3. Make sure the option to Show on edit page for the Email Notification Checkbox is selected and optionally choose your preference for Select by default.
 

In Lightning Experience 
Gear icon | Setup | Object Manager tab | Task | Page Layouts
 
1. Click on the page layout name.
2. Click on Layout Properties.
3. On Email Notification Checkbox, select option for Show on edit page and optionally choose your preference for Select by default.

 

Known Issue: Send Notification Email to Contact on Cases does not send email
