Secondary Fields are Displayed for Instant Results on Search for Recently Viewed Records

When you search in Salesforce Lightning Experience, recently viewed records appear in Instant Results with a secondary field displayed beneath the record name. The secondary field is configured via the Search Results layout for each object. However, not all field types are supported as secondary fields for recently viewed records.

Unsupported Secondary Field Types 

The following field types are not currently supported as the secondary field in Instant Results for recently viewed records:

• Formula
• Date
• Lookup
• HTML link (URL and email)
• Image
• Picklist
• Long Text
• Record Type
• Address
• Auto-number

Workaround for Address Fields

As a workaround for Address, you may create a custom text field to contain the details of the Billing City and then use that field as a secondary field.

Behaviour for Non-Recently Viewed Records

With records that aren't recently viewed, Date and Record Type fields may be displayed as the secondary field.
For example, if Creation Date is set as the secondary field on Account in the Search Results layout, this field is displayed for suggested records in Instant Results. If these are recently viewed records, Creation Date is not displayed, and the next supported field in the Search Results layout on Account is displayed instead.

Notes

• Formula and lookup fields are not supported as secondary fields for any records.
• With Contact and Opportunity entities, the Account Name is set as the secondary field and it is not configurable.
• With future releases the supported field types may change.
