Grant users with Lightning Platform license access to Case object

Lightning Platform licenses may be granted Case object access, but only if your organization has Agentforce Service (formerly Service Cloud) feature licenses provisioned in order to provide your organization access to Service features, including the Case object.

Note: There is a difference between basic Salesforce Platform Licenses and Lightning Platform Licenses. As per the Lightning Platform Starter and Lightning Platform Plus Details documentation, the difference is Lightning Platform licenses "contain a Salesforce Platform license and a Company Communities Permission Set License."

Admins may verify whether if they have Lightning Platform licenses via View Your Organization’s User Licenses and confirming the following two licenses are present in the "Company Information" setup section's following related lists:

If the above licenses are not present, please contact your Account Team to discuss provisioning.

With the necessary licenses, grant Case object access via a permission set:

In Lightning Experience
  1. Click the gear icon.
  2. Click Setup.
  3. On the quick find box, enter Permission Set and click on it from the results.
  4. Click New.
  5. Enter its label.
  6. Select the license: Company Community for Force.com.
  7. Click Save.
  8. Click Object Settings.
  9. Click Cases.
  10. Click Edit.
  11. For Tab Settings, select Available and Visible.
  12. Set Case object and field permissions according to your business requirements.
  13. Click Save.
  14. Click Manage Assignments.
  15. Click Add Assignments.
  16. Select the users you want to have this permission.
  17. Click Assign.
  18. Click Done.

In Salesforce Classic
  1. Click Setup 
  2. On the quick find box, enter Permission Sets and click it from the results.
  3. Click New.
  4. Enter a label.
  5. Choose the license named Company Community for Force.com.
  6. Click Save.
  7. Click Object Settings.
  8. Click Cases.
  9. Click Edit.
  10. For Tab Settings, select Available and Visible.
  11. Set Case object and field permissions according to your business requirements.
  12. Click Save.
  13. Click Manage Assignments.
  14. Click Add Assignments.
  15. Select the users you want to have this permission.
  16. Click Assign.
  17. Click Done.
