The browser window is the first screen you see when you navigate to territory planning. The browser window is where you can:
  • Search for data sets and alignments.
  • Create new data sets and alignments.
  • View, modify, and clone active data sets.
  • View, modify, and clone active alignments.
  • Archive and delete data sets and alignments.
  • Share alignments with others.
  • Switch to another alignment.
The browser window has the following components:
  1. Search Bar: At the top of the browser window you can see a search bar that can be used to search for active or archived data sets and alignments by name.
  2. Create Data Set Button: A data set is a copy of the data pulled from the source report or the custom SOQL query used. This button is used to create a data set in Territory Planning.
  3. Active Section: Under the active section you can see a list of all active data sets by clicking the arrow beside the data set. Under the data sets, you can find the associated alignments that are active and available to be plotted on the map. Each alignment represents a different planning scenario. You will only be able to see the data sets that you have access to. If you hover over the data set you will find icons to create an alignment, edit the data set, share the data set and its related alignments, or archive the data set. Similarly, if you hover over an alignment you will find options to edit, clone, share, and delete an alignment
  4. Archive Section: Under the archive section you can see a list of all the data sets that were archived. Archiving a data set also archives its related alignments and hence will be present under the data set in the archive section. Only archived data sets can be deleted.
Note: You can also see the status of an alignment (approved, submitted) in the browser window. Once the alignment is submitted or approved, you cannot edit or delete the alignment, but only clone and share.

Removing Data Sets and Alignments

Clients can update the status of a data set or alignment to be deleted by:
  • Data Set: Archive the data set, then select delete
  • Alignment: Select delete
Data Sets and Alignments must be hard-deleted through the configuration page under the Territory Planning | Data Management tab. Selecting Permanently Delete will delete any Data Sets and Alignments that have a status of Deleted.  All related alignments to a data set will also be deleted if that data set has a status of deleted. Once the Permanently Delete button is clicked, an apex batch job will run in the background to clean up the data from the org.
