Reset User Preferences in Territory Planning

Date de publication: Aug 18, 2026
Description

Occasionally, Territory Planning can get stuck at Building Map Data. This is an indication that something is wrong with the legend, typically caused by an issue with overlay reference layers.

An easy way to restore access to the alignment is to remove the user preferences, resetting the legend back to its default state. This will remove any of a user's legend and layer customizations, but will not affect assignment values in Territory Planning.

Résolution

This article walks through how to reset a user's Territory Planning legend and layer preferences when an alignment gets stuck loading, without affecting that user's territory assignments. Resetting the User Preferences is a two-step process.

Step 1: Create a Tab for Territory Planning User Preferences

  1. Select Setup
  2. Type Tabs in the Quick Find box and click Tabs
  3. Click the New button
  4. Select Territory Planning User Preferences from the object picklist
  5. Select any tab style and click Next on this as well as the next step
  6. Uncheck 'Include Tab' and select the checkbox only for Salesforce Maps (maps__SalesforceMaps)
  7. Click Save

Step 2: Reset the User Preferences for a Specific User

  1. Navigate to the Territory Planning User Preferences tab
  2. Create a new list view and add Alignment, User, and Access from Select fields to display
  3. Search for the Alignment you need to reset
  4. Locate the User in the list, and select Delete

Alternative: Reset via Data Loader

If you prefer Data Loader over the UI, run the query below to find the record ID for the affected user's preference row on the given alignment, then delete that record.

SELECT Id, maps__User__r.Name, maps__Alignment__r.Name FROM maps__TPUserPreference__c WHERE maps__Alignment__r.name = '<<Affected Alignment Name>>'
