Publishing to Field Service in Salesforce Maps Territory Planning

Julkaisupäivä: Aug 4, 2023
Kuvaus
Publish to Field Service allows user to publish Service Territories and Service Territory Polygons to Field Service from Territory Planning. The two publishing methods allow you to either create new Service Territories and Polygons, or update existing Service Territories and Polygons based on the Service Territory Name.

Note: When specifying publish new, duplicate territories in Territory Planning or Field Service will cause a failure, as Field Service does not allow for duplicate names.

Publishing to Field Service

  1. Click Publish in the top-right corner of your Territory Planning tab.
  2. Select Field Service.
  3. Choose a Publish Scope:
    • AlignmentThis is typically for publishing an entire new alignment to Field Service. The most common use case is rolling out an entirely new plan for all service territories.
    • FocusThis is used to make targeted changes to an existing plan. If you make changes in one region, you can open that region in Territory Planning and commit just those changes to Field Service.
  4. Choose a Publish Level to publish. This will publish the areas at the selected level as well as all children of those areas. If your hierarchy is Region => District => Territory, and you choose District as the publish level, it will publish not only the districts, but also the territories associated with those districts.
  5. Choose an Operating Hours for the newly published territories.
  6. Choose a Publish Method:
    • Publish as new Service Territories:This will publish new Service Territories and Map Polygons to Field Service. Only territories that have containers assigned will have a polygon created.
    • Overwrite matching Service Territories:This will overwrite any Service Territories and Map Polygons with matching names in Field Service. If a matching Service Territory is not found, it will create a new Service Territory.
  7. Click Publish

Note:

  • The option to Publish to Field Service will only appear for Orgs that have Field Service enabled and the managed package installed.
  • All publish options can be subject to Approval. If you do not see the option to publish, please check with your company’s Salesforce Administrator to see if that option is enabled.
  • Publish to Field Service may result in simplified polygons in Field Service, which can create overlap between neighboring territories. Use the trimming tools in Field Service to fine-tune your polygons. Learn more about Field Service polygon limits here.
