Deleting a Salesforce Queue That Is Associated to a List View Also Deletes the List View

Understanding the Relationship Between Queues and List Views

In Salesforce, when a Queue is created, the system may generate a corresponding List View for the associated object, such as Cases or Leads. These List Views are tied to the Queue and rely on the Queue's existence.

If a Queue is deleted, Salesforce automatically deletes any List Views associated with that Queue. This behavior applies to:

  • List Views automatically generated when the Queue was created.
  • List Views manually associated with the Queue through the Salesforce user interface (UI).

Because these List Views are dependent on the Queue, they cannot remain available after the Queue is removed.

What Happens When You Delete a Queue

When a Queue is deleted in Salesforce, all associated List Views are also automatically deleted.

This applies to:

  1. List Views that were automatically created when the Queue was initially set up.

  2. List Views that were manually associated with the Queue through the Salesforce UI.

This is expected product behavior.

Note: List Views associated with a Queue cannot be recovered automatically once the Queue has been deleted.

Workaround: Preserve Your List Views Before Deleting a Queue

If you need to retain the configuration of a List View before deleting a Queue:

  1. Navigate to the List View associated with the Queue.

  2. Record the List View's filter criteria, visible fields, and any relevant settings.

  3. Delete the Queue if required.

  4. Recreate the List View manually after the Queue has been removed.

Alternatively, consider renaming or deactivating the Queue instead of deleting it if preserving the associated List View is important.
