Publish to Sales Territories in Salesforce Maps Territory Planning

게시 일자: May 21, 2026
상세 설명
Publishing to Sales Territories does not automatically grant access to accounts for end users in every case. If the territory includes rules, then they must be run. If the model is not active, then it must be activated. Users can choose to publish the Alignment or Focus and can choose to overwrite existing territories. It is also worth noting that Sales Territories does not change account, case or opportunity ownership, but can grant access to the records.
솔루션
Publishing to Sales Territories

  1. Click Publish in the top right corner of your Territory Planning tab.
  2. Select Sales Territories

Choosing a Publish Scope

  1. Choose a Publish Scope:
    • a. Alignment: This is for publishing an entire alignment to Sales Territories. The most common use cases for selecting this scope would be creating hierarchies for the first time or transitioning to a new planning model.
    • b. Focus: This is used to make targeted changes to an existing model. If I make changes in a single region, I can open that region and then publish just those changes.
  2. Choose a Publish Level at which to publish. This will publish territories at the selected level as well as the children of that focus.

Choosing a Publish Method

  1. Choose a Publish Method:
    • a. Publish as new Territories: This will publish new territories to the parent that you select below.
    • b. Overwrite all Territories: This will overwrite all child territories of the parent that you select below.
    • c. Overwrite matching Territories: This will overwrite any territories with matching names of the parent you select below. If a matching territory is not found, it will create a new territory. Overwritten territories will update standard fields and rules created from Territory Planning. However, custom fields and rules will remain unchanged. Also, note that Assignment rules in TP are additive meaning that removing or updating a rule will not remove the accounts that match that rule, but adding a rule to another area or using the Run Assignment Rule action may remove those accounts.
  2. Choose an existing Territory Model to publish within, or create a new model.
  3. Choose the Territory Type you would like associated to published territories.
  4. Choose an Assignment Rule Field and Operator. This field's values should match the Territory Boundary Ids of the alignment.
  5. Optionally, select Manually assign locked units to territories to publish any locked units as manual assignments.
    • Note: Pairing Manually assign locked units to territories with Overwrite Matching Territories will overwrite any manually assigned Account.

Handling Territory Rule Limits

  1. If a Territory violates the rule limit (i.e., has enough rule values to reach the 10,000 character limit), then specify how to handle them:
    - a. Skip Assignment Rules: Do not publish assignment rules for this territory.
    - b. Simplify Rules: Truncate the rules using simplification logic so that the minimum required values are published.
    - c. Publish as child territories: Publish as many children territories as needed with the same name and users to capture all the rules.

Note: All publish options can be subject to Approval. If you do not see the option to publish, please check with your company's Salesforce Administrator to see if that option is enabled.
