Salesforce Authenticator Automation

Date de publication: Sep 23, 2026
Description

This article covers recommended best-practice settings for automation within the Salesforce Authenticator mobile app, so trusted logins are approved automatically instead of requiring a manual tap each time.

  • Allow browser privacy settings to save cookies for third-party Salesforce sites. This can be done at the admin or end-user level. Before making any changes in your browser, verify with your IT department that the changes comply with your security policies. Edit browser settings to keep login history if possible.
  • Within the Salesforce Authenticator app, enable the Einstein Automation setting on the Settings page. When enabled, locations you trust three or more times will automatically approve future logins from those common trusted locations. Trusted locations are saved indefinitely, until you remove them from the app.
  • Suggested: on iOS, set Location Services permission to Always and enable Background App Refresh. On Android, set Location Services to High Accuracy Mode. Set notifications to always allow, and keep the app open during use.
Résolution

This article answers the question: what settings should you configure so Salesforce Authenticator automation works reliably, and what should you check if automation still isn't performing well?

Note on Low Power Mode

Background App Refresh is disabled in Low Power Mode. Forcing the app to close can also interfere with request automation.

Additional Phone and App Settings Suggested

  • In the Authenticator app: set "Back up accounts" to ON.
  • In the Authenticator app: set Automation Settings / Einstein Automation to ON.
  • In general phone privacy and location settings: set to Always ON.
  • Keep the app open to allow for automation detection.

Settings to Configure in the Org

Salesforce Org Admin side click path (Classic and Lightning): From Setup, enter "Identity Verification" in the Quick Find box, then select Identity Verification. Enable "Let Salesforce Authenticator automatically verify identities using geolocation."

If all settings are in place and app performance still hasn't improved, go into the app's Settings > About, then tap Send Feedback for review. This pulls details from the individual phone's settings and sends them to the product team for a performance review; they'll contact you if they need additional information.

If you disable Einstein Automation, your existing trusted locations remain in place. Einstein Automation is enabled by default on new downloads of Salesforce Authenticator, along with these device settings: on iOS, Location Services permission set to Always with Background App Refresh enabled; on Android, Location Services set to High Accuracy Mode.
