“You don’t have permission to log events” Error in Salesforce Outlook or Gmail Integration

On Outlook Integration Gmail integration, non-admin users who are not assigned to Einstein Activity Capture or are assigned but with email capturing disabled; encounter the error message:

"You don’t have permission to log events. Ask your Salesforce admin for help."
 
Løsning

Root Cause: Non-admin user doesn't have access to the "Related to" and the "Name" fields for the Event object.

Non-admin user must have permission to create events with Salesforce that allows access to both "Related to" and "Name" fields.

Make sure to check the following:
  • Users have edit access to WhoId or WhatId fields of the Event object (entity)
  • Users have access to a page layout
  • Page layout assigned to users for Event record includes both WhoId and WhatId fields
  • Page layouts assigned to users for the Event record have an editable setting for the WhoId and WhatId fields (Related To and Name fields).
