Error "Insufficient Access rights on object id" Editing a Salesforce Contract

In Salesforce, a Contract record becomes read-only once its status is set to Activated. Non-system admin users who attempt to edit an Activated Contract even if they are the record owner and receive the error "Insufficient Access rights on object id."

This is working as designed: activating a contract is intended to lock the record to preserve the integrity of the agreement. Contracts can only be edited while in Draft or In Approval status categories. To make changes to an Activated Contract, the contract must either be deactivated or deleted and recreated.
