This change was implemented in the Winter '22 release (October 2021) and remains in effect for all Salesforce orgs.
Following the Winter '22 release, some users may lose access to the DeveloperName field on objects they typically interact with. If necessary, restore access by granting permission to affected users using the procedure outlined below.
If the user holds one of the supported user licenses listed below, grant explicit access to view, group, sort, and filter the DeveloperName field by assigning the View Setup and Configuration permission OR the View DeveloperName permission via a profile or permission set.
If the user license is not in the supported list, contact Salesforce Customer Support. Include the user license type and the name of the object the user has a problem accessing.
Supported User Licenses: Salesforce, Service Cloud, Chatter Only, Partner Network, Automated Process, Cloud Integration User, Analytics Cloud Integration User, Test Standard Permset User License, Package License Manager, Salesforce Administrator, Knowledge Only, Sales Insights Integration User, B2BMA Integration User, Force.com - Free, Siteforce Only, SalesforceIQ Integration User, Salesforce Platform Light, Force.com - One App, Partner App Subscription, Database.com Admin, Force.com - App Subscription, Company Communities, Salesforce Platform One, Salesforce Platform, Salesforce CDP, Premier Support.
