Install Maps and Sales Planning into a Sandbox environment

When a Salesforce administrator purchases Salesforce Maps or Sales Planning, the default installation link points to the Production environment. This article explains how to redirect the installation to a Sandbox ‌ instead, and outlines key considerations for Sandbox use including license assignment, configuration, portability, and support limitations

Solución

To install into a Sandbox, copy the package install URL from your Order Form. Change the beginning of the URL from login.salesforce.com to test.salesforce.com, keeping everything after the slash unchanged. You will be redirected to log in to your Sandbox and proceed with installation.


Things to consider:

  • Managed packages by default come with site-wide licenses and you do not have to individually assign licenses to users.
  • Configurations that are created in a Sandbox cannot be moved to Production.
  • Once you have installed the package into Production only a refresh of a Full Sandbox will contain all the Configurations.
  • Given the intricate nature of the Salesforce Maps and Sales Planning managed package, which includes various objects, relationships, and data dependencies, troubleshooting issues with Salesforce Support can only be conducted in full-copy sandboxes
