Visualizing Live Asset Tracking History in Salesforce Maps

How to Plot a Live Layer and View an Asset's Tracking History

1. From Salesforce on desktop, navigate to 'Maps' from the App Launcher.
2. Select the Layers tab in the navigation bar at the top left of the screen.
3. Select the Saved tab, then choose either the Personal or Corporate folder.
4. Select an existing Maps Live Layer or create a new one.
5. Select an Asset marker from the map
   • Under the Live tab, you will see the last reported information.
6. To visualize historical location information, select the Tracking History tab
7. Ensure the desired Summary Configuration and Timezone are selected
8. Select a Start Date and End Date range, along with the desired Start Time and End Time
   • The historical date range cannot encompass more than 7 days
   • The 'Start Time' and 'End Time' will default to 24 hours for each day if unchanged
9. Select View Full History.
10. Each days' history will show as an individual layer on the 'On the Map' tab.
11. Once plotted, you will see all location history for the given day or set of days.
12. A sequential list of Events will be shown on the left-hand side of the map.
13. Use the 'Filter' button to display only those event types desired.
    • For example, only visualizing stops or safety-related events.
14. Select the Display button at the top to change the event marker style from dots to icons.
15. Select either the dots or icons on the map to see more details about the event.
    • Alternatively, click on the event from the list on the left-hand side of the map to see details.
16. Select Options to expand for more details.
17. Use the Asset, Date, and Time selectors to change Asset or date range visibility
