Fixing Import Error: DUPLICATE_VALUE

Uncheck the Unique Checkbox in Salesforce

1. Open the error csv file you received as an attachment in the summary email after the initial import
2. Click the gear icon in the top-right corner of the Salesforce screen
3. Select Setup
4. Click Object Manager
5. Click the Label for the object you are importing into
6. Click Fields & Relationships
7. Click the Field Label for the field identified in the error csv file error message column
8. Click Edit
9. Uncheck the Unique checkbox
10. Click Save
11. Perform the import again using the error csv file

Enter a Unique Value in Your CSV File

1. Open the error csv file you received as an attachment in the summary email after the initial import
2. Click Reports tab in the navigation bar
3. Click New Report
4. Select the report type for the object that you are importing into
5. Click the Filters column
6. Change the filters to show all records for all time
7. Click the Outline column
8. Remove all fields from the Columns section
9. Add the field identified in the error csv file error message column to your report in the Columns section
10. Click Run
11. In the error csv file, change the value in the cell identified in the error message to a unique value not found in the Salesforce report you just created
12. Save the error csv file
13. Perform the import again using the error csv file
