Support for records created outside of the Salesforce Maps user interface

Udgivelsesdato: May 11, 2026
Beskrivelse

Creating or modifying records outside the Salesforce Maps user interface or adding automation on the managed package objects is not recommended or supported

Løsning

Salesforce Maps is built with the permission structure designed for in-app usage. When granting the Salesforce Maps permission set, the users are given the appropriate permissions to read, create, edit, and delete the necessary Salesforce Maps records. The permissions to restrict access (i.e., folder permissions) only restrict access through the Maps user interface. Salesforce Maps does not support creating items from outside the Maps User interface (including via Agentforce).

Note: We do not recommend creating any sharing rules or validation rules on the Salesforce Maps managed package objects/fields, as they may present unforeseen errors or negatively impact the app functionalities. This includes modifying sharing settings with the exception of making the maps objects public for external users. In addition, we do not recommend creating custom triggers or other kinds of automation on the managed package objects/fields unless they are defined in Salesforce Maps Developer Documentation. Several objects like Maps Routes and Maps Shape Layers delete the related records upon editing or saving which may cause unexpected behavior if automation is present.   Salesforce Maps Support may require the deactivation/removal of these items to troubleshoot and support uncommon issues. Salesforce reserves the right to change features and functionality not being deprecated (object/field structure, vendors, etc).
