Suggested prospect updates after Mailability Model Upgrade in Account Engagement

Publiceringsdatum: Sep 30, 2025
Beskrivning
After the mailability model is upgraded, the Do Not Email field is solely a marketing suppression tool. It's not connected to bounces and is no longer bound to the Opted Out field. Depending on the scenario, it's possible you may need to manually update fields for certain prospects after you upgrade. This article provides some common pre and post-update scenarios where you could manually update the prospect record.

Unsubscribed Prospects

Previously, the Do Not Email field was selected as True when a prospect was marked Opted Out. Prospects who resubscribe after the upgrade won't be eligible to receive marketing emails because the Do Not Email field is no longer updated with the Opted Out field. To make opted out prospects eligible for marketing emails again when they resubscribe, update the Do Not Email field to False on the prospect record. You can also use automation rules to update the field for a specific group of prospects.

Prospects Who Have Exceeded Bounce Limits

Previously, prospects with one hard bounce or more than five soft bounces were marked as Do Not Email. After the upgrade, the Do Not Email field is no longer tied to bounces. You can update the Do Not Email field to False so prospects won't be suppressed from marketing emails if and when they become mailable again. Update individual prospect records manually, or use automation rules to update the field for a specific group of prospects. This does not include prospects made mailable again by Account Engagement Support.

Prospects Who Have Previously Had Bounce Limits Reset By Account Engagement Support

After the upgrade, bounce limits and mailability status are no longer tied to the Do Not Email field. If a prospect previously exceeded bounce limits, which were then reset by Account Engagement Support, that reset carries over with the upgrade. No additional action is needed.

Prospects Marked as Do Not Email

Some customers have always used the Do Not Email field in a specific way to suppress prospects. If you previously marked prospects as Do Not Email, that status will carry over after the upgrade. No additional action is needed and they remain suppressed from marketing emails.

Note:  The "Overwrite prospect opted out field" option found in the Salesforce connector is default behavior in the updated mailability model and cannot be disabled. As such, it will no longer appear in the connector after upgrading.
