Error 'Invalid cross reference id' on App Deployment via Change Set

When deploying an app via a Change Set in Salesforce, you may encounter the following error if a required profile dependency is missing from the Change Set:

Invalid cross reference id

This error indicates that the Change Set includes an app but does not include all of the profiles that reference or contain that app. When the target org attempts to resolve the profile references during deployment, it cannot find the corresponding profile records, resulting in the cross-reference error.

Lösung

To resolve the "Invalid cross reference id" error during Change Set deployment, add all profiles that contain the app to the Change Set—even if those profiles already exist in the target org.

Steps to Resolve

  1. In the source org, navigate to Setup > Deploy > Outbound Change Sets
  2. Open the Change Set that contains the app
  3. Click Add to add components to the Change Set
  4. Select Profile as the component type
  5. Add all profiles that reference or contain the app you are deploying
  6. Upload the Change Set
  7. In the target org, navigate to Setup > Deploy > Inbound Change Sets
  8. Open the uploaded Change Set and click Deploy

Important Note: You must include all profiles that contain the app, regardless of whether the profile already exists in the target org. Salesforce requires this to correctly resolve the cross-reference relationship during deployment.
