Create Account or Lead Sources for Click2Create™ in Salesforce Maps

Learn how to create a new Lead or Account Source Picklist Value, and apply it to be used in Salesforce Maps Click2Create.

By default, Salesforce Maps Click2Create uses the existing picklist values in the Lead Source or Account Source field to tag newly created records. If your organization uses a custom picklist value such as 'Salesforce Maps Field Discovery' to distinguish records created in the field, you need to add that value to the picklist and configure it in Click2Create settings. This article explains how to add a new source picklist value and apply it to the Click2Create configuration.

For example, a field sales manager wants to track which accounts were created by reps using Salesforce Maps during customer visits. By adding a 'Salesforce Maps' picklist value and setting it as the default for Map Click in Click2Create, the manager can run a report filtered by that source to measure field-generated pipeline.

Add a new Source picklist value

  • For a Standard Salesforce Object, go to Setup → Build → Customize → Leads (or standard object)
  • For a Custom Salesforce Object, go to Setup → Create → Objects → Choose your object
  • In Lightning, go to Setup → Object Manager → Choose your object
  1. Find the picklist field you are using as the source (ex. Lead Source, Account Source, "Custom Object" Source) and click on the label.
    • Note: Clicking Edit will only allow you to edit the field name, not the values in the picklist.
  2. Scroll down to the section called "Values” and click New.
  3. Add Salesforce Maps (you can add one or more picklist values with each value being on its own line)
  4. Click Save.


Add the Source to the Salesforce Maps Click2Create configuration

Now that the new value has been created, add it to the Salesforce Maps Click2Create configuration settings.

  1. Go to Setup → Installed Packages.
  2. Click configure next to Salesforce Maps.
  3. Click Click2Create tab
  4. At the bottom of the configuration page, change the Default Values for POI, My Position, and Map Click to the picklist field and value created above.
