Check In to Events in Salesforce Maps

Event Setup

1. From Setup - Install Packages - click on Configure for Salesforce Maps.
2. Click on Base Object tab - Edit Existing tab and select Event base object.
3. When setting up the Event object, scroll to the Check In settings. Note the available options.
4. Set Post To This Object. This will post the Event Check In to the Event Object itself.
5. Next, set the Verification Distance (Optional). Entering a value here requires mobile users to be within a given distance of a record’s geolocation to check in. We recommend setting this to no smaller than 1,000 feet or 305 meters. 
6. Lastly, set the Check In and Check Out Date Fields. When you check into Events, Salesforce Maps will update the specified fields. It will also automatically set the Check Out Date Field to the current time. However, when you hit Check Out, the End Date Field will be updated to the time the button was pressed.

Checking Into and Out of an Event

1. In order to Check Into an Event, start by plotting an Events Marker Layer. Navigate to a given Event Marker and select Check In.
2. Salesforce Maps will ask if you're Checking In or Checking Out. Select Check In.
3. Note that Salesforce Maps updates the Start time to whenever you pushed the Check In button. It will also set the End Time to the current time. 
4. Lastly, you can Check Out by selecting Check In once more. Select the same Event Marker and select Check In.
5. Salesforce Maps will ask if you're Checking In or Checking Out. Select Check Out this time.
6. Note that Salesforce Maps sets the Check Out time to the time you clicked it.
