In the past, Checking Into and Out of Events with Salesforce Maps caused duplicate events to be added. Depending on your use case, this was not always desirable. Salesforce Maps now provides a way to update the records without this happening.
This article explains how to configure Salesforce Maps Check In settings to avoid creating duplicate events, and how to check into and out of an Event.
In order to Configure Checking Into Events, you can start by creating an Event Base Object. You can configure this Event to have location data on the Event itself, or you can configure it to look to another object, such as Accounts.
