Importing Cases with Dataloader.io

Veröffentlichungsdatum: Apr 21, 2026
Beschreibung

Data Import Wizard cannot be used to import your Case records so Salesforce Essentials edition orgs must utilize dataloader.io from MuleSoft to perform this import.

Lösung

The example below can be used for a test import using dataloader.io from MuleSoft. If you do not have a User, Account or Contact with the values in the example, simply change the values to the names of a User, Account and Contact that are in your org. To use this example for a test import, copy and paste the values below into an Excel or Numbers worksheet then save it as a .csv file. Please note that this is a template to demonstrate how to import into the Case object and you should not include any custom fields that you have created during the test import.

Now that we have a test .csv file, let's start by importing the Case!

  1. To import your Cases using dataloader.io from MuleSoft, begin by going to https://dataloader.io/
  2. Click Login with Salesforce
  3. Select Production Environment and use your Essentials credentials to login
  4. Click New Task on the top left corner of the screen
  5. Select Import
  6. Ensure Insert is selected in the Operation section
  7. Search for Case in the Object section
  8. Select Case in the Object section
  9. Click the Next button
  10. Upload your .csv file
  11. Map your Contact .csv column to the Contact ID field
  12. Click the Lookup Via checkbox under Contact ID
  13. Select Full Name in the drop-down field
  14. Map your Account .csv column to the Account ID field
  15. Click the Lookup Via checkbox under Account ID
  16. Select Account Name in the drop-down field
  17. Map your Status .csv column to the Status field
  18. Map your Case Origin .csv column to the Case Origin field
  19. Map your Owner .csv column to the Owner ID field
  20. Click the Lookup Via checkbox under Owner ID
  21. Select Full Name in the drop-down field
  22. Click the Next button
  23. If the edition of Salesforce that you are using is the Essentials Edition, ensure that the option for API Mode has 'Use Batch API with 200 records per request' selected
  24. Click the Save & Run button
  25. Click the Run button in the pop-up window

Once your import is completed, you can log in to your Salesforce org to confirm:

  1. Your Case was successfully imported
  2. Your Case is related to the correct Account
  3. Your Case is related to the correct Contact

After confirming that the import worked as expected, you are ready to use your .csv file instead of the example .csv file from above! Remember to create any custom fields that you may need prior to importing your data and ensure that the column header in your .csv file matches the custom field(s) name(s).
