Salesforce Chatter Error 'Your post is too long' in Sales and Service

Fecha de publicación: Apr 22, 2026
Descripción

In Agentforce Sales (formerly Sales Cloud) and Agentforce Service (formerly Service Cloud), Chatter allows users to collaborate through posts and comments. When you enter more than 10,000 characters in a Chatter post or comment, Salesforce displays the error: "Your post is too long." This character limit includes both visible text and formatting tags in rich-content posts meaning HTML tags added by the editor count toward the 10,000-character total even though they are not visible to the reader.

The 10,000-character limit is hard-coded and cannot be increased. This limit applies to all Salesforce organizations across all editions and cannot be changed by Salesforce Support.

How to Resolve:

No Support action is required as this is a hard-coded system limit.

Solución

When you enter more than 10,000 characters in a Chatter post or comment in Sales or Service, you'll receive the error 'Your post is too long.' This character limit includes both visible text and formatting tags in rich-content posts. The 10,000-character limit is hard-coded and cannot be increased.

Note:

In rich-content posts, HTML formatting tags are included in the character count even though they are not visible to the user.

Workarounds:

Because this limit cannot be increased or extended by Salesforce Support for any organization, if you need to share longer content, consider the following alternatives:

  1. Break your post into multiple comments or replies
  2. Attach a document or file with the full content
  3. Post a summary with a link to a detailed document in Files or a shared drive
