How to assign Maps Live Permission Set Licenses & Permission Sets

In order to configure Maps Live Tracking and visualize location data, you first need to assign the required Permission Set Licenses and then Permission Sets.

Note: To avoid receiving an error, you must assign Permission Set Licenses before assigning Permission Sets.

Assigning Permission Set Licences to the Maps Live Administrator :
  1. From Setup, enter 'Users' in the Quick Find box, then select 'Users'.
  2. Locate and select a User record.
  3. Under the ‘Permission Set License Assignments’ section, select ‘Edit Assignments’.
  4. Check the ‘Enabled’ checkbox next to ‘Salesforce Maps’ and ‘Salesforce Maps Live Admin’.
  5. Click Save.
Assigning Permission Set to the Maps Live Administrator :
  1. From Setup, enter 'Users' in the Quick Find box, then select 'Users'.
  2. Locate and select a User record.
  3. Under the ‘Permission Set Assignments’ section, select ‘Edit Assignments’.
  4. From the ‘Available Permission Sets’ list, select ‘Maps Admin’, ‘SF Maps’, and ‘SF Maps Live Admin’ and click the right arrow to add to the ‘Enabled Permission Sets’ list.
  5. Click Save.

Assigning Permission Set Licences to the Maps Live End User :
  1. From Setup, enter 'Users' in the Quick Find box, then select 'Users'.
  2. Locate and select a User record.
  3. Under the ‘Permission Set License Assignments’ section, select ‘Edit Assignments’.
  4. Check the ‘Enabled’ checkbox next to ‘Salesforce Maps’ and ‘Salesforce Maps Live Mobile Tracking’.
  5. Click Save.
Assigning Permission Set to the Maps Live End User :
  1. From Setup, enter 'Users' in the Quick Find box, then select 'Users'.
  2. Locate and select a User record.
  3. Under the ‘Permission Set Assignments’ section, select ‘Edit Assignments’.
  4. From the ‘Available Permission Sets’ list, select ‘SF Maps’ and ‘SF Maps Live Mobile Tracking’ and click the right arrow to add to the ‘Enabled Permission Sets’ list.
  5. Click Save.

Note: Any user that has the standard Maps PSL will have visibility into viewing the real time and historical locations of assets via plotting a live layer in maps or viewing the daily summary SF records.
