Quip - Create an Account Hierarchy Report

Overview

Salesforce reports and the Quip Report Live App's dynamic filter don't natively support multi-level account hierarchy grouping. To work around this, you can create a formula field that captures each account's ultimate parent account, then use that field to filter a Salesforce report added to a Quip document.

• Create a formula field to capture the ultimate parent account
• Create a Salesforce report with the formula field as a filter
• Add a Salesforce report to the Quip document using the dynamic filter

Note: This process will not show the hierarchy of child accounts, but will show the hierarchy as related to the ultimate parent account.

Guided Steps

1. Create a formula (text) field "Ultimate_Parent__c" on account with this as the formula.
2. Create a report in Salesforce that surfaces all account levels.
3. Add the formula (text) field to the report and use the field to filter from the Salesforce Report Live App; see Dynamically Filter Live Salesforce Reports from Quip.
