Quip Site Domain Settings

There are 4 domain site settings to choose from when provisioning Quip: Auto-Add, Open, Discoverable, and Hidden. Read the following to learn each setting’s definition and when it’s recommended to use.

Note: Admins cannot configure the Quip site domain setting. Speak with your deployment manager to confirm your domain setting of choice.

Auto-Add: Only people with access to the site domain will be able to join the Quip site. They will not be able to view other sites, nor have the option to create a new site.
  • Recommended when there's a need for a single Quip site to exist with the same domain, as no additional Quip sites can be made with the domain.
  • Allows for just-in-time (JIT) provisioning.
  • Allows for customer controlled access management via SSO

Open: Anyone with the site domain can see the Quip site and choose to join.
  • Recommended when there’s a need for multiple Quip sites to exist with the same domain.
  • Allows for customer controlled access management via SSO.

Discoverable: Only people with access to the site domain will see the Quip site, and must request to join the site.
  • Recommended when there’s a need for multiple Quip sites to exist with the same domain, and when the Quip admin wants to approve all requests to join the site.
  • Does not allow for just-in-time (JIT) provisioning.
  • Does not allow for customer controlled access management via SSO.

Hidden: The only way to join the site is to be provisioned by the Quip site admin.
  • Recommended when the site is managed and therefore should not be discoverable.
  • Does not allow for just-in-time (JIT) provisioning.
  • Does not allow for customer controlled access management via SSO.
