Login failures to your Salesforce org can occur for a variety of reasons. A single failed login doesn’t incur much overhead, however, many repeated or simultaneous failed logins can result in a poor User experience. Failures can impact productivity & potentially cause downstream issues.

In a worst case scenario, where failures are having a knock on impact to system performance, they may result in an IP block to alleviate pressure on the system.
Note: This temporary block will also block valid logins coming from the same IP, so it is important to fix excessive failed login problems before they get to this point.

The Signature Success plan’s Proactive Monitoring product will monitor for, and alert you to, a sustained drop in the Login Success rate (% of successful logins) for your org. This article outlines some scenarios to help you investigate should you receive an alert. In addition, on the Salesforce Help site Designated contacts and above can see your realtime metrics, alerts & more.

The alert will provide the following Additional Details:

  • Login Failure Count by UserId
  • Login Failure Count by Result Code
  • Login Failure Count by Login Type
  • Login Failure Count by IP Address
  • Delegated Auth/Federated Auth Login Failures
