Document Access Determinants:
  • To view the embedded Quip document inside Salesforce, users must have:
    • Access to the underlying Salesforce Record and
    • Assigned Quip permission set and
    • Completion of the Salesforce and Quip connection
  • The above remains true if the document resides within the users private folder. This holds true for restricted folders as well.
    • If Synced Sharing is set to No Access, and the user tries to open a linked document in Salesforce, then the "Request Access" modal will appear, preventing access to the document within the Quip environment.
  • Synced Sharing
    • Admins set access at the org level for all documents linked to Salesforce records. Access can be set to one of the following:
      • No Access (user must manually request access)
      • View Access
      • Comment Access (default)
      • Edit Access
      • Full Access
      • Salesforce Record Access (same level of access to the linked document as to the record).

    • If Synced Sharing is disabled, linking a document to a record doesn’t grant access to other users.
    • See Considerations for Synced Sharing for full list of considerations.
  • Link sharing or directly shared on a document
    • If link sharing is enabled for a document, or document is directly shared with a user in Quip, the user can access it in Lightning Experience.
    • Link sharing and directly shared access levels take precedence over Synced Sharing access levels. Tell Me More
