Change Your Domain Name in Salesforce

Publish Date: Apr 2, 2026
Description

Changing your My Domain name updates the unique URL of your Salesforce org. This process involves provisioning (approximately 20 minutes) and a deployment step. Plan for a maintenance window if needed.

A My Domain showcases your company's brand and keeps your data more secure by making your Salesforce org's URL customer-specific.

If the domain name needs to be changed due to an error while signing up, or if your company is rebranding its name, this article describes the steps to change the "My Domain" value in Salesforce.

Resolution

To update your "My Domain" please do the following:

  1. Click on the gear icon in the upper right corner and click Setup

  2. On the left side of the page, in the Quick Find Box, type "My Domain"

  3. Click My Domain

  4. In the "My Domain Details" section, click Edit

  5. In the "My Domain Name" field, enter your new desired name and click "Check Availability" button

  6. If the domain name is available, click Save

The next step is the provisioning stage where the new name is being propagated throughout the Internet. This step takes about 20 minutes, and sometimes longer depending on network conditions. You will receive an email when the provisioning is completed.

The last step is to Deploy your domain to users. Log back into your Salesforce and from Setup, go to the My Domain page. Click the Deploy Domain Name button. The new domain name is now available and fully changed and deployed.

Please note, requests to the previous My Domain's URLs are redirected to your new My Domain.
