CPQ Validation message persists in QLE after conditions are no longer met

Publish Date: Aug 28, 2024
Description
Product Validation Rules used in Salesforce CPQ are able to prevent users from saving quote configurations that meet certain criteria. The types of configurations which trigger the validation rule are defined in the rule's Error Conditions. A field, Message, on the product rule allows admins to customize the error message text displayed to users. If these error conditions have been met, a message appears in a red banner across the top of the Quote Line Editor (QLE).
Resolution

When conditions have been met, CPQ validation rules prevent the quote from being saved. After the rule has been triggered, its Message persists on the QLE screen. A shake animation of the banner message occurs on secondary attempts to save the quote while the error conditions are still met. If the quote has been updated and the conditions are no longer meet the conditions, users will be able to Quick Save or Save even though the banner persists on the QLE screen. Validation rules, by design, are used to prevent users from saving invalid quotes.

NOTE: After updating the quote and it no longer meets the error conditions, it is expected behavior in Salesforce CPQ for the error message to persist on the screen until the message is closed. Users can close the message manually or by initiating certain actions such as Save or Calculate, which also closes the message.
