Account Engagement Opt-Out Sync Behavior Change is Now Optional

Background

Account Engagement business units created before August 26, 2022 have the option to use the most recently updated record when the prospect Opted Out field syncs with Salesforce.

Based on customer feedback, we’re removing the deadline to select a new sync behavior for the prospect Opted Out field. For the most up-to-date consent data, we recommend you stop using the legacy option “Use the most recently updated record” as soon as possible.

Recommended Options

  • Use Salesforce’s value - The value of the Salesforce Lead and Contact Opted Out field (HasOptedOutOfEmail) is synced to the Account Engagement prospect Opted Out field. If the field values differ, Salesforce’s value overwrites Account Engagement’s value. The logic is updated to align consent across synced Lead/Contact records with the same email address.
  • Use Account Engagement’s value - The value of the Account Engagement (formerly Pardot) prospect Opted Out field is synced to the Salesforce Lead and Contact Opted Out fields. If the field values differ, Account Engagement’s value overwrites Salesforce’s value.
  • Use the most recently updated field value - The latest field value between the prospect Opted Out field in Account Engagement and the Lead and Contact Opted Out fields in Salesforce is synched to the records. If the field values differ, the value in the most recently updated field overwrites the value in the other system’s field.
NOTE: In order to be able to select the "Use the most recently updated field value" sync behavior, the Salesforce Connector User being used in Account Engagement needs to have 'Read' field-level security on the Opted Out mapped field in Salesforce on both the Lead and Contact object.


What has changed?

Previously, there was a deadline to make a new sync behavior selection. Based on customer feedback, we’re removing the deadline and won’t make any changes to existing selections. Instead, customers who still have the option to use the most recently updated record can continue to do so or change their sync behavior when they’re ready. To ensure the most up-to-date consent data, we continue to recommend that you switch to one of the new sync behavior options.

What happens if I do make a change?

If you decide to change the sync behavior for the Opted Out field, you can't go back to using “Use most recently updated record value” option.
