After a recent update to the DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials Chrome browser extension, Lightning Experience users are reporting encountering the following errors when navigating various pages and records in their Salesforce org:
Salesforce Lightning Experience requires cross-domain cookies — small data files that browsers use to authenticate sessions across Salesforce's distributed domain infrastructure.
In order to resolve these errors users will either need to disable the extension, or turn off the Site Privacy Protection setting in the extension for their Salesforce org URL.
For more information regarding this third party add-on, please visit DuckDuckGo's support site found here: https://help.duckduckgo.com/duckduckgo-help-pages/company/contact-us/
If DuckDuckGo extension is not used, try adding the Salesforce domains to allowlist of third party cookies in Google Chromes Settings menu -> Privacy and security -> Third-party cookies -> Allowed to use third-party cookies -> Click Add button to add the Salesforce domains. Please refer to Allow the Required Domains document for the list of Salesforce domains.
Bitdefender Google Chrome extension can also cause this error. Uninstalling or disabling this extension can resolve this error.
