When changing the “Assigned To” field on a task to transfer ownership to another user, customers may report that users receive two email notifications about the update instead of one. This can occur when the field is updated manually or using Process Builder.

Open a case with Salesforce Customer Support and mention the Work Item W-5158938 with subject: Fix email notifications for assigned tasks in LEX.
