Add a Custom URL Field to a Page Layout in Salesforce

To add a custom URL field to a Salesforce object:

Step 1: Create the URL Field

1. Click the Gear icon and select Setup
2. Go to Object Manager
3. Select the object (for example, Lead, Contact, or Account)
4. Click Fields & Relationships
5. Click New
6. Select URL as the data type
7. Click Next
8. Enter a Field Label and other details
9. Click Next
10. (Optional) Set field-level security
11. Click Next
12. Add the field to the desired Page Layout
13. Click Save

Step 2: Verify the Field

1. Open a record for the selected object
2. Refresh the page
3. Locate the new URL field on the layout

If the field does not appear immediately:

• Refresh the browser, or
• Log out and log back in
