Journey Builder Sales Activity Best Practices

Date de publication: Apr 17, 2026
Description

Sales and Service Activities allow users to add or update data within their connected Agentforce Sales (formerly Sales Cloud) or Agentforce Service (formerly Service Cloud) org. These activities are great for updating CRM records with data specific to the Journey they are in. The activity is not meant for standalone bulk updates. In order to prevent a Sales or Service activity from negatively impacting your account, please review the below best practices.

Résolution
  • Do not use Journey Builder as a substitute for the Data Import Wizard or Data Loader for regular bulk updates
    • Note: A Sendable Data Extension is required when configuring a Journey Builder Entry Event. The Sendable Relationship of the Data Extension dictates what value is used for “ContactKey”. Contacts get created in your All Contacts using the Sendable Relationship Field when injected into Journey Builder even if there are no messaging activities. Using a Sales or Service activity can create unwanted contacts in your Marketing Cloud Account.
  • Limit the number of fields being updated
  • Avoid high volume updates to Objects with many related records, such as CampaignMember or Opportunity
  • Journey processing in one business unit can negatively impact processing in another business unit. Spread activity throughout your enterprise accordingly.

Failure to adhere to these best practices can result in other journeys within your enterprise processing slower than expected.
