The Quip Admin Console gives site administrators centralized control over all aspects of their Quip deployment, including user management, single sign-on (SSO) configuration, security settings, SCIM provisioning, and site-level preferences. This article provides an overview of each section of the Admin Console and explains when and why an administrator would use each area.
To open the Admin Console, click your email address or profile icon in the bottom left of Quip, then select Admin Console. You must have a Quip Admin role to access this page. If you do not see the Admin Console option, contact your site administrator.
Example: A newly appointed Quip administrator at a 500-person company opens the Admin Console on their first day to review current user licenses, confirm SSO is configured, and check whether MFA (multi-factor authentication) is enabled before sending the rollout announcement to staff.
The Site Members section lists all active, invited, and deactivated users on your Quip site. From here, administrators can:
Site Settings controls organization-wide defaults including your company name, subdomain, company logo, and the custom banner message shown to all users. Changes to the company name also rename the default group folder visible to all site members.
The Accounts and Access tab is where administrators configure single sign-on (SSO) using Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML). You can upload an identity provider (IdP) metadata file, test an SSO configuration with a specific user before rolling it out to the entire site, and enable or disable SSO for the organization.
The Security section controls Quip Shield features including:
Administrators create and manage API keys in the API Keys section. API keys authorize external integrations and automated processes to access the Quip Admin API, Automation API, or Live Apps API. See the Create an API Key for Quip and API Access in Quip articles for detailed setup instructions.
Admin Insights provides usage analytics for your Quip site, including active user counts, document creation rates, and feature adoption metrics. Use this section to monitor engagement and identify users or teams who may need additional onboarding support.
The Action Log records administrator actions taken in the Admin Console, including user invitations, deactivations, SSO configuration changes, and security setting updates. Use this log for compliance auditing or to review recent administrative changes made by other admins.
