Knowledge Article Limit Increase Requests

Описание

Knowledge limits for different org editions are outlined in the Knowledge Scalability documentation.

Note: The maximum limits are based on your organization's Sharing or Access Model for Lightning Knowledge.

The key behind any Knowledge limit increase request is understanding how each individual limit must be considered with respect to each other based on the following calculation:

Total # of versions = (# of articles) x (# of retained versions per article) x (# of translations per version)

Any proposed increase to individual limits must be reviewed using the above calculation to ensure the request does not exceed the default limit of 10,000,000 potential Knowledge Article Versions (Total # of versions).

Maximum Edition Limits for Data Category Based Sharing:

Essentials10,000,00045,00010 4
 Professional 10,000,00045,00010 4
Enterprise10,000,000125,00050*10
Developer10,000,000 125,000 50*10
Unlimited20,000,000 500,000* 50*  100*

Maximum Edition Limits for Standard Sharing:

EditionTotal # of versions # of articles# of retained versions per article# of translations per version
Essentials10,000,00045,00010 4
 Professional 10,000,00045,00010 4
Enterprise10,000,000125,00050*10
Developer10,000,000 125,000 50*10
Unlimited50,000,000 1,000,000* 50*  100*

* Although these figures are the absolute maximum for these individual knowledge limits, increases to each will only be considered if the overall calculation maintains under the maximum Total # of versions per edition.

So for example, an Enterprise Edition customer requesting the maximum increase for each limit above would not be approved based on the following calculation:

Total # of versions = (# of articles) x (# of retained versions per article) x (# of translations per version)

62,500,000 = 125,000 x 50 x 10

You can see based on the formula, the total # of versions (62,500,000) exceeds the maximum of 10,000,000 total potential # of versions. A reduction of other limits, such as the total # of retained versions per article (from 50 to 8), to maintain under 10M will be required:

10,000,000 = 125,000 x 8 x 10

Or a combination of the reduction of # of retained versions per article (from 50 to 16) and # of translations per version (from 10 to 5) for example, would allow you to maintain more past versions per article:

10,000,000 = 125,000 x 16 x 5

Note: Salesforce maintains 10 of your org past article versions, plus past versions listed beyond the aforementioned 10, that have been associated with Cases.

If your organization requires an increase for your edition's default limits please contact Salesforce Support via a new case and ask them to reference the internal information in this article # 000392616 and include the following details:

  1. Org Id:
  2. Requested limits for each of the following:

Note: The requested limits should not exceed your edition's Maximum Edition Limits in the table above or the total versions based on the provided calculation.

  • Total # of versions: - The total number of knowledge article versions including archived, translated, draft etc.
  • # of articles: - The total number of knowledge articles.
  • # of retained versions per article: - The number of past archived article versions retained for each knowledge article.
