When to Use This Article

Use this article when you need to capture browser console and network logs from the Salesforce Outlook Integration side panel running in Microsoft Edge (Chromium-based) WebView2 browser control in the Outlook desktop client.
WebView2 is Microsoft's Chromium-based browser control that is embedded in the Outlook desktop client and used to render the Outlook Integration side panel. Salesforce Support typically requests these logs to troubleshoot issues with the Outlook Integration add-in.

Steps to Capture Console and Network Logs Using Edge Chromium Developer Tools

Follow these steps to capture logs using the Edge Chromium developer tools in the Outlook desktop client:

  1. Open the Outlook Integration side panel in the Outlook desktop client.
  2. Right-click in the Outlook Integration side panel to open the context menu.
  3. Select Inspect — this opens the Edge Chromium developer tools.
  4. In the developer tools panel, click the Console tab.
  5. Reproduce the issue you are troubleshooting.
  6. Right-click in the Console window and select Save as to save the console logs.
  7. For network logs: click the Network tab, right-click anywhere in the network log area, and select Save all as HAR (HAR stands for HTTP Archive — a standard format for capturing network traffic) to save the network logs.

Note: If the add-in does not have a Right-click menu, then most likely it is not using Microsoft Edge (Chromium-based) WebView2 browser control. In that case, check the legacy Edge or IE11 developer tools method to get console/network logs: Edge DevTool or IEChooser to capture the Console and Network logs for Outlook
