External Object Limitations with Salesforce Maps

Prerequisites:

Before creating the base object, please review your external data source to ensure only unique IDs are returned. Any marker layer containing duplicate IDs will not appear on the map user interface.
If using an external data source with a named credential ensure the 'maps' namespace is added in the external data source configuration page under 'Managed Package Access'.

The following filters within the Marker Layer Builder are unsupported for external objects.

Field Filters by Owner & Scope
- All Accounts
- My Accounts
- My Team’s Accounts
- My Territories’ Accounts
- My Territory Team Accounts
Cross Object Filters
- Use of cross objects for external objects
Related Object
- Use of related lists for external objects when referencing other external objects

Note: Field filters that contain lookups may surpass a subquery limitation of more than 1,000 rows being returned.

Marker Actions

The following actions are unsupported for both single marker actions and mass actions (including list view). If performing a mass action on a group of markers that contain markers from both an external object Marker Layer and a standard or custom objects Marker Layer, these actions will only be performed on those markers from standard or custom objects Marker Layer.

Mobile

External Object Marker Layers are unsupported for the Maps Mobile experience. These layers are purposefully hidden from the UI.

The maximum number of records that can be plotted via a single external objects Marker Layer is 2,000.
