Using the Dashboard Builder in Lightning Experience with a Screen Reader

Publiseringsdato: May 8, 2023
Beskrivelse
Salesforce dashboards present multiple reports side-by-side using dashboard components on a single dashboard page layout. When viewing or editing a dashboard, each component added to the dashboard is marked by a heading.

When editing a dashboard, buttons are presented in each heading section to resize or move the dashboard component on the dashboard page layout. Moving and resizing components is accomplished for mouse users through a drag-and-drop interface. JAWS users will need to turn the virtual cursor off, while NVDA users will need to put NVDA into focus mode to accomplish the same functionality.

While editing a dashboard, follow these steps to move or resize a component:
  1. Navigate to the button you wish to activate, either Move Component or Resize Component. NVDA users simply need to place focus on the button while JAWS users must press SPACEBAR to select it.
  2. Turn the virtual cursor off for JAWS, or put NVDA into focus mode.
  3. If resizing a component, use the arrow keys to drag its corners in the specified direction to change the size. As the size changes, the screen reader will announce “Final position” followed by a width and height.
  4. If moving a component, the arrow keys drag the component inside an X-Y plain with X0, Y0 being the top left corner. As the component is moved, the screen reader will announce “Final position” followed by the new X,Y coordinates of the component. Note: The screen reader will announce a verbal description of the new location. However, the location of other components on the dashboard is not reported, only the current coordinates of the component you are working with.
  5. When finished moving or resizing the component, JAWS users should toggle the virtual cursor on. NVDA users should switch back to browse mode. The new sizing and positioning is automatically updated.

Review the bottom of the dashboard builder page to hear the final position of the last component you moved or resized.
Remember to activate the Save button to save any edits made to the dashboard.
