Omnichannel Inventory - Best Practices for Inventory Import

This article outlines some of the best practices for inventory import.

1. Don’t import inventory data while the location changes are in progress. Importing inventory while location graph changes are in progress can cause inventory inconsistency between the group and its locations. If you have scheduled imports, please pause until the location graph changes are complete.

Under 'Setup Step 4: Initialize Omnichannel Inventory Data in Your Salesforce Org' of the implementation guide, please take a look at the considerations in the 'Availability Data' section.

2. We recommend using the high-performance import file layout to capture the performance improvements. Review the section 'Import File Layout - High-Performance' in Inventory Impex documentation.

3. For best performance, use delta data imports as much as possible. Try to limit full data imports.

4. For updating small batches of inventory items/delta data imports, please use the batchInventoryUpdate API (There is a limitation of 100 SKUs per batch). For full data imports, use Inventory Impex API.
