Salesforce Maps uses a geocoding engine to convert address text into map coordinates. Unlike consumer search engines such as Google or Bing, which use search databases and autocomplete to find addresses, Salesforce Maps passes the exact text from mapped address fields on the Base Object configuration to a geocoding vendor. When address data is incomplete, contains errors, or refers to a newly constructed location not yet in the vendor database, the resulting marker placement may be inaccurate or unexpected.
