Salesforce for Slack - Initial Setup Steps

Part 1: Setup in Salesforce Org

1. Go to Setup in the Salesforce Org
2. Type in “Slack” in the Quick Find Box
3. Go to Initial Slack Setup
4. Agree to the Terms and Conditions. This part is KEY, when you complete this, the ‘Connect Salesforce to Slack’ permission is added to the ‘Slack Service User’ Permission.
5. Assign the Slack Service User Permission to the profile of whomever wants to connect to Slack, this ensures you can connect to the Slack Workspace.
6. Go to the Slack Workspace

Part 2: Setup in Slack Workspace

1. There are two ways to access the Salesforce for Slack App:
   1. Login to your Slack Workspace > Click ‘Add Apps’ > Type in Salesforce for Slack and select the app.
   2. Go directly to the Slack App Directory, search for Salesforce for Slack, and click Add to Slack.
2. If you have more than one Workspace, check the top right of the screen to ensure you are connecting to the correct workspace.
3. Clicking ‘Add to Slack’ redirects you to a Salesforce product page. On the Salesforce product page, click the ‘Get Salesforce App’ button under ‘Liberate your admins’ on the right.

Connecting to a Sandbox Org:
If you are connecting to a Salesforce Sandbox org (not Production), click the link under the Connect button that reads “Would you rather connect to a Sandbox?” before proceeding.

1. Click ‘Allow’.
2. Go to the Salesforce for Slack App in the Slack Workspace > Click on the ‘About’ tab and scroll down to the commands, then click ‘Start Command’. It should either say ‘you are already connected’ or confirm that you are now connected.

Part 3: Verify Connection

1. Go back to your Salesforce Org.
2. Verify that your Slack User Mappings are now visible.
3. You can access this setting by going to your Profile > Settings > Slack.
