‘Restricted External Sharing’ & ‘Limit Document Sharing to Your Site’ Settings in Quip

Дата публикации: Sep 23, 2025
Описание
All newly created Quip sites will be defaulted to ‘Restricted External Sharing’ and to ‘Limit Document Sharing to Your Site’ designated as a security requirement by Salesforce for Quip.

This means that users from other Quip sites cannot share documents with newly created site users. When these options are enabled in Quip, users who try to share with you from another Quip site will see the error message “You can’t share with (Email Address) because (Quip Site Name) doesn’t allow sharing from external companies”.

As a note, if the two settings ‘Restricted External Sharing’ and to ‘Limit Document Sharing to Your Site’ are Enabled within a Quip site, the Template Library Example Templates will not be accessible and sharing to and from your site will be blocked. Once these settings have been toggled off, users will then be able to share to and from a site.

To remove these settings from your newly created Quip site, and to allow sharing from outside of your Quip site, the user who made the site will need to do the following:
Login to your Quip site. If you belong to more than one Quip site, enter in the specific url, i.e. example--(myawesome.quipsite).quip.com to login specifically to that site.
  1. Login to your Quip site. If you belong to more than one Quip site, enter in the specific url, i.e. example--(myquipsite).quip.com to login specifically to that site.
  2. Click on your Quip Profile icon and select ‘Admin’.
  3. Click on ‘Edit Site Profile’ and unselect the checkbox for ‘Restricted External Sharing’ and ‘Limit Document Sharing to Your Site’ and select Save to finalize the selection.
  4. Once unselected, users outside of your Quip site will be able to share with you accordingly.

If users run into any issues, users should create a case with Quip Support through help.salesforce.com. To create a case with Quip Support, users will need to create a Trailhead Account to submit a case for Quip assigning the Product as Sales and the Topic as Quip. To create a case with Quip Support, you do not need to have a Salesforce Org, but will see an option to select Quip for the corresponding Org option.
