Moving an app from a sandbox to production does not allow the app to perform essential processes that are a part of app setup. As a best practice, test a new app in the sandbox, but do not deploy the app from the sandbox to your production environment.
Salesforce recommends you create the app from the template in the target org, rather than migrate the app created from the template in one org to another. This is a cleaner approach and can be monitored in the Setup page under App History. The app install process, if successful, guarantees all the moving parts are setup correctly. To customize an app, you can set up the app in both sandbox and production. Then, customize the app in the sandbox.
For example, you can modify a SAQL query in the sandbox and copy that query into the production environment. The data sync and all dependent recipes and dataflows need to be scheduled to run on a regular basis.
To ensure all setup tasks are completed for a templated app in a refreshed sandbox, recreate or reconfigure the app.
