In Lead Convert, field values are not displayed when selecting Contact or Opportunity matches

When converting a Lead, the fields displayed when selecting matching Contacts or Opportunities are derived from the Primary Compact Layout for the object. If the Record Type of a record displayed is assigned a different Compact Layout that is missing fields contained in the Primary Compact Layout, those fields will be displayed as blank when choosing existing matches, even if the field is populated on the record.

Steps to Resolve

  1. From Setup, enter Compact Layouts in Quick Find and select the object (e.g., Contact).
  2. Click the Compact Layout Assignment button.
  3. Review which Compact Layout is assigned to each Record Type.
  4. Edit those layouts to include the fields present in the Primary Compact Layout.
  5. Repeat for the Opportunity object if needed.

For example, if your Primary Compact Layout includes the 'Phone' field but the 'Partner' Record Type Compact Layout does not, the Phone field will show blank during Lead conversion even if the Contact has a phone number.
