Generate Temporary MFA Verification Code for Users Unable to Log In with Salesforce

Data pubblicazione: Jan 30, 2026
Descrizione

This article explains how a System Administrator can generate a temporary verification code in Agentforce Sales (formerly Sales Cloud) or Agentforce Service (formerly Service Cloud) to restore access for a user who cannot log in with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) due to a lost or malfunctioning device.

Risoluzione

If a Salesforce user enabled for Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is unable to log in, a System Administrator should generate a temporary verification code as a temporary access key, rather than disabling MFA, to avoid security risks.

This code allows the user to log in and re-register a new authentication device.

Steps to Generate a Temporary Verification Code

  1. From Setup, enter "Users" in the Quick Find box, then select Users.

  2. Click on the name of the target user.

  3. On the user's detail page, click Generate next to "Temporary Verification Code."

  4. Set an expiration time for the code between 1 and 24 hours, then click Generate Code.

  5. Copy the generated code and share it with the user through a secure method.

User-Side Procedure

  1. Log in with your username and password as usual.

  2. When prompted for verification, enter the temporary verification code shared by the administrator.

  3. After logging in, disconnect the old authentication method from your account and register a new authentication device.
