Send Email Error (Send through External Services): 'Missing refresh token. user might not have been authorized'

When sending an email in Salesforce, while utilizing Send Through services, it is possible that something could become stale with your externally connected account.  Resetting your account connection, within Salesforce, can help to resolve an error, such as the one shown here.

Please following these steps to reset your account connection:
  • Go to your Personal Salesforce settings by clicking on the profile picture, in the upper right, and then selecting "Settings".
  • Click on the "Email" option from the left hand side navigation menu.
  • Click on the option for "My Email Settings".
  • Choose the option to "Send through Salesforce" and Save your change.
  • Wait a minute or two, and then change the option back to your chosen "Send through" option.  ie:  "Send through Office 365" or "Send through Gmail" and save your change.
  • Navigate to any Salesforce Record and attempt to send an email.
  • You will be prompted to re-connect your account.
  • Once connected, you should be able to send your email, without issue.
If you continue to see this error, after reconnecting your account, please submit a case with Salesforce Support.
