Root Cause

This error is caused by stale browser cache or cookies that retain an outdated reference to a Salesforce record or session. When the browser loads a cached page state that references a record no longer accessible, Salesforce displays this error. Clearing the browser cache and cookies removes the stale data and resolves the issue.

Steps to Clear Browser Cache and Cookies

  1. Open your browser settings.
  2. Navigate to the Privacy or History section (varies by browser).
  3. Select Clear browsing data or equivalent option.
  4. Select both Cached images and files and Cookies and other site data.
  5. Click Clear data.
  6. Close and reopen the browser.
  7. Log back into Salesforce and attempt to click the New button in the related list again.

The error should no longer appear after clearing the cache and cookies.
